SOCPLS Holiday Policy
In accordance with the legal holidays of the State of Mississippi as listed in Section 3-3-7 of the Mississippi Code and based on library usage during the holidays, Starkville-Oktibbeha County Library System observes the following holidays upon which all libraries are closed:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- President’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Armistice Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Holidays which fall upon a Saturday will be observed on Friday; holidays which fall upon a Sunday will be observed the following Monday.
The Governor of Mississippi has the authority to, and does occasionally, grant state employees additional called holidays. Starkville-Oktibbeha County Public Library System will observe the above holidays and be notified of any special called holidays.
