Featured FOL Board Member

Page Leftwich has served on the FOL Board for nearly four years. As a board member, she enjoys preparing for the monthly book sales. While unboxing donations, Page has discovered old books dating from the late 1800's, inspirational works, and selections from our own Mississippi authors. Board members serve on various committees and Page is currently serving on the publicity committee. Her responsibility is to provide media coverage for the Books and Authors program. Books and Authors is held most months at the library and features area authors.

Page's favorite genres are historical fiction and mysteries. She especially enjoys the following authors: Ken Follett, Jan Karon, Anne George, Adriana Trigiani, and Sharon McCrumb. She plans to take Elizabeth George's book, Just One Evil Act, a British mystery, with her on vacation this year. Page gets absorbed in each book she reads and the characters become like family. She highly recommends the following books to Fologram readers: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd; Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns; The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer.

With spring here, she will be spending more time in her garden with her husband, Jim, and her Westie named Harry. Together, they will maintain the landscape and plant seasonal flowers, but be assured she will have a good book open, ready to read when she takes a break.

Book Sales

Book sales have gone well this spring in spite of record cold temperatures and frequent rain. Held on the first Monday of every month, the book sales are a vital source of revenue for Friends. Proceeds from the sales help with the purchase of new books for the library, and fund summer reading programs for children and youth. Keep in mind, donations of your gently used books are always welcomed. These may be dropped off at the sale room or the circulation desk during regular hours. Turnover is quick, so be sure to attend our monthly sales so you won't miss that perfect purchase. Upcoming sale dates are May 5, July 7, August 4, September 8, October 6, November 3, and December 7.
