"Books & Authors" New Name New Day "Books & Authors", a noon time program organized and created by the Friends of the Library, under direction of Brenda Harden, launches a new event day. The events will now take place on the third Thursday of each month with one scheduled exception. Thursday, September 8 at noon, kicked off the fall season with award-winning author, Anna Michaels, speaking on her newest book, The Tender Mercy of Roses. Following is the slate of programs: Thursday, October 13, Ellen Newsom presents "Two Weeks in Meerkat Manor". Wednesday, November 9, Sid Salter and Jack Cristil present The Voice of the Bulldogs. Thursday, January 12, Suzanne Marrs presents What There is to Say We Have Said: the Correspondence of Eudora Welty and William Maxwell. Thursday, February 9, Nancy Dorman Hickson presents Diplomacy and Diamonds: My Wars from the Ballroom to the Battlefield. Thursday, March 8, Michael Ballard presents The Civil War in Mississippi: Major Campaigns and Battles. Books will be available for purchase and authors will stay to autograph copies for patrons.
